As part of the continuing efforts of the Department to reach out to all employees and foster diversity, the Secretary of Energy authorized the formation of the Gay, Lesbian or Bisexual Employees (GLOBE) organization on September 12, 1995. DOE GLOBE is part of the Federal GLOBE program involving 33 Federal departments and agencies, of which 20 have agency recognized GLOBE affiliates. See our list of GLOBE contacts.
The DOE GLOBE mission is two fold: to further the awareness of gay, lesbian and bisexual employee issues at all levels within the Department; and to support the Department in pursuing the objectives of quality management practices and diversity in the Federal work force.
All DOE Federal and contractor employees are welcome to participate in DOE GLOBE, and employee confidentiality is respected. DOE GLOBE has:

sponsored a 1995 AIDSWALK Team which, in conjunction with all other participants, helped to raise over $ 1.7 million for DC primary AIDS care providers, |
|
|
participated in the World AIDS Day observance activities at DOE, including preparation and distribution of commemorative red ribbons, and |
|
|
supported a one-day program to enhance awareness and prevention of Domestic Violence. |
|
|
helped to draft redress procedures and a DOE Order on EEO and Diversity |
|
|
continually participates as members on the Secretary's Diversity Council and the DOE Council of Organizations. |
